Who we are

Discovr is a UK surprise-trip planner operated from the United Kingdom. In this policy, "we" and "us" mean Discovr. You can reach us at hello@discovruk.com.

What we collect

  • Account details — your email address, display name, @handle, and anything you choose to add to your profile such as an avatar or home town.
  • Trip information — the answers you give the generator (dates, starting point, radius, budget, adventure style) and the discoveries you save.
  • Location — if you tap "use my location", we convert your device's coordinates into a nearby town name to set your starting point. We do not store your precise coordinates.
  • Photos and content — photos you upload for trip verification or your memory book, plus reviews, comments and messages you send.
  • Usage data — basic events such as pages visited, discoveries generated and features used, so we can improve the product.

Why we use it

To create and secure your account, generate and store your discoveries, run social features such as friends, crews and messaging, award XP, levels and Discovr Dollars, operate giveaways, moderate content, and improve the service. We rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interest in running and improving Discovr, and your consent where you have given it (for example, browser location or push alerts).

Who we share it with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the service providers that make Discovr work: our hosting and database provider, our email delivery provider, and the AI provider that drafts your itineraries. Trip prompts sent to the AI provider do not include your name or email address. We may also disclose data where the law requires it.

What other people can see

Your @handle, display name, avatar, level and badges are visible to other members. You control whether your profile is public or private in Settings, and whether an individual discovery is published to the community. Private profiles show only a handle to people who are not accepted friends. Anyone you send a share link to can view that trip.

How long we keep it

We keep your account data for as long as your account exists. Delete your account in Settings and we remove your profile, saved discoveries, photos and messages, other than anything we must retain for legal or fraud-prevention reasons.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to how we use it, and withdraw consent at any time. Email hello@discovruk.com and we'll respond within one month. If you're unhappy with our response you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Cookies and storage

We use essential cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, remember your theme, and remember whether you've seen the welcome walkthrough. We do not use advertising cookies.

Children

Discovr is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes

If we make a material change to this policy we'll update the date above and, where appropriate, tell you in the app.
